At what point do I deserve a DSLR?

I'm about to buy a nikon 3100 which is entry level, but i'm starting to doubt how much i deserve it.

Added (1). Hey guys- i don't earn my own money.
though i've saved up half the dslr money, i'll still need my parents to pay the other half.
you see?

If you can pay for it, you "deserve" it because the money is yours to use as you see fit.

Is your question really about whether you are wasting your money? In that case:
Do you need a camera?
Do you believe that you will be able to tell the difference in the photos you take?
Will you use this camera seriously, and take good care of it?

If you buy the camera, and it doesn't make a difference in your photography, then return it for a refund.

I love Nikon D3100. The price is worth to buy… It's really user friendly with step by step guide mode. Make me like a professional photograph.

Point already made. If you can pay for it… And still want it, you buy it.

As soon as you feel it's time to get off the porch and run with the big dogs…
.
However, a D-SLR, any D-SLR, is not a puppy of a camera and requires dedication to it to know and understand it. Many spend good money for a very versatile piece of photographic equipment only to leave them on P all their life, then *** at the make or model because it won't take good pictures like they see in Nat Geo magazines…
.
When you know you need what these kinds can do when NOT on full automatic, then is the time, when you know what they can do and your camera now is not giving what you want, now it's time to move up. One of the bigger advantages besides having a full PMAS dial, is the interchangeable lenses…
.
A entry level D-SLR camera, with lens, can be +/- $500 US. However, the next lens alone that you may want can be easy $500 to $800! Think about it. It is an expensive hobby. Many try to buy "cheap" lenses, and their out there, however, the lens is what SEES, why go cheap and get cheap images?
.
It is very easy to have a $500 to $800 camera body but $5000 in lenses! A so called "pro" body, $2500 and up, and while most of the lenses are the same, another 5 to 10 grand in glass (or more, sometimes a lot more).
.
While photography is not the sport of Kings, it is not for the weak of heart or jobless. It wants to grow up fast and get more 'things' and stops being a puppy real quick. If your good you can find ways to feed your hobby with it. If not, well. You look good carrying it around your neck.

If you plan on actually 1) learning about photography and 2) learning how to use the camera proplerly, then go for it. If neither of those interest you, you'll be wasting your money, so just buy a point & shoot camera. If you just want the camera so you can show it off, don't buy it.

Personally, i would say don't waste your money on a DSLR… Go with a bridge camera and learn the basics…

If you have passion for photography, then there's no certain age for buying a dslr.

You " deserve " anything when you earned the money to pay for it yourself, you're half way there.
You're talking about a $600+ camera. And you fail to mention your age. Do your parents have money to burn?
We tend to value things more when we earned them ourselves
And how serious are you about photography? If not, but something like a Fujifilm Finepix with the monet you already have.

"deserve" is not the issue. Nobody "deserves" (or doesn't deserve) a digital SLR.

Rather than being EMO about it all, JUST DO IT.

What's important is what you actually do with the dSLR, not whether you "deserve" it or not.
