Nikon SLR Cameras

Are there cameras with 'nikon 1' tech?

Is there other cameras which can take pics before the shutters fully pressed, take snapshot when filming and superfast auto focus

Erm you do know it's just marketing speil.

Compare the Nikon 1 to either a D2, D3, or D4, or a Canon 1D/1Ds series camera, and you'll see how much better cameras can get. Expecially if you look at the D4 or 1Dx with their amazingly accurate cross (and double cross) type AF sensors, and high tech fifth generation image processors, now that really defines what fast is.

Those are all just gimmicks.

Sony, probably Oly, both since before Nikon decided to jump on the small mirror-less bandwagon.

Only the "superfast" autofocus is actually of any useā€¦ The other two are not so much.

The camera isn't actually taking a picture "before the shutter is pressed".It is on and recording video (and storing that video) for a set period of time. So it records a constant 30 second (or whatever) loop, and all you are going is storing one frame of that video as a still image. This is also eating your battery much faster, because the camera is actually running the entire time it is on.

Capturing still images out of video, while recording, is nothing new at all. My 10 year old Samsung MiniDV camcorder can do that.

If you want fast autofocus, the Sony SLT a33 doesn't cost much more than the Nikon J1 and it has some of the fastest autofocus you can get. It has a mirror that allows use of phase detection autofocus (like all DSLRs) which is lightning compared to contrast detection. I'm not really sure why you want it to take pictures before the shutter is fully pressed though? Does this camera autofocus with the half pressed shutter like most cameras and doesn't that make it easy to accidentally take a bunch of pictures you didn't want? I also don't know why Nikon didn't take advantage of Sony's E-mount for their mirrorless which Sony offers up for free to anyone serious about using it - they could have had a whole bunch of NEX users to market their lenses to.
