Nikon SLR Cameras

Any good DSLR camera recommendations?

I've been looking for a decent DSLR camera for a quite awhile now. I'm not exactly a 'great' photographer, I'm only a beginner.

The camera I have currently is GE x550, but the amount of money I waste on batteries for it is ridiculous. Also since it is a bridge camera, I can't change the lenses and I would love to.

This year is my first year in high school and I'm taking photography and would love to already have a decent camera for class.

My budget is $550, so anything less than that would definitely help!

If you could find the cheapest DSLR camera that would also be lovely! Thank you!

Ps: Please do not be rude because of my lack of knowledge on cameras.

Added (1). Oh, and if the camera has excellent video quality that'd be nice!

Entry-level DSLRs generally come with an 18-55mm (3x) zoom to get you started.

Look at the Sony SLT A-58 (better video), Pentax K-500, Nikon D3100/D3200 and Canon EOS 1200D (I don't know what they call it in the US, but it's the cheapest of the Rebels).

Any one of them will serve you well, and the best one for you is down to how they feel in your hands.

The least expensive DSLR's are the Sony Alpha SLT-A58 - $450, Canon T3 - $400, Nikon D3100 - $425, and Pentax K-500 - $470.

Any one of them will suit you well. They all are appropriate for a photography class. They will have all the controls that any instructor would expect.

Any entry level by Canon, Pentax, Nikon will do just fine.
