Any good Canon/Nikon cameras?

So my birthday and Christmas are coming up and people want to know what I want. Well, by the question above ^^^^^ you can tell i want a camera. The thing is, I have no idea what KIND of camera I want. I looked up the Canon 60D but that is Way to expensive. Maybe something that is $1000-800 might be a good price. I want pretty good quality and if it can, i really want one of the screens the flip out so you can look at yourself when taking videos/pictures.

60D is way too expensive? But it's like $1100, which is a little bit above your limit.

Canon EOS T2i, T3i, Nikon D3100, D5100 and Pentax K-r are all fantastic. Screen flipping out is horrible, auto focus is slow, you won't be able to take pictures of your self because it is only quick enough for static objects. It's fine sometimes but mostly is made for marketing.

All have the same quality, colors and sharpness. Many people think that like one model is horrible and then the other one makes it all look nice. They're all great, but how pictures come out depends on you.

With digital cameras and camcorders, a 1000 dollar camera is only about 20 percent better than a 100 dollar camera. I prefer HD camcorders because you can pull 'still shots' as hd photos and generally find the perfect shot.
