A good beginner dslr
I was wondering what a good starter dslr is, like what would you suggest? Nothing over 500-600 dollars though please. Plus canon or Nikon? Also what other lenses or equipment would you suggest to get
At that price point, you can afford the lowest entry DSLR from most brands.
Canon T3 w/ 18-55 (540$+tax)
Sony Alpha A390 w/18-55 (600$+tax)
Pentax K-X w/18-55 (620$+tax)
Nikon D3100 w/18-55 (630$+tax)
You'll also want some memory cards, maybe a nice bag?
As far as brands go, go to the store and handle a few of them… Choose the one that feels more natural to you. At this level, they are all pretty much equivalent.
I suggest going to an actual camera store. Tell them what you are looking for, use them a little bit and see what feels best to you. Some people like the way one brand is set up over another. You can find all the specs online, but you don't know if you will like it until you hold it and use it.
As far as Canon or Nikon, they are both good cameras. Don't limit yourself to JUST Canon or Nikon though, there are a lot of decent cameras.
