Wireless flash set up?

Tom

I have Nikon SB600 and new Pocket wizard Plus X.
I know how to triger SB600 wirelessly in TTL mode.
What I want is to use Plus X so that I can triger SB600 when it's blocked (IR doesn't fire).
Plus X doesn't support TTL so I need to go manually.
If I have SU-4 on camera, and put Plus X on top of SU-4… Will it triger wirelessly SB600 (with Plus X of course)?
And will manuall settings for SB600 work, I guess it will?

I'm not sure if you need a SU4. I have a cheap Chinese knock off RF trigger (Yongnuo RF603). The kit comes with two identical transmitter/receivers (either unit can be used for either purpose), and each unit has both a hot-shoe and hot-shoe mount (camera and flash type hot shoe).

I can just place one of them directly on the camera's hot shoe, and place the flash (in manual) directly on the hot shoe of the other RF603, and the flash will fire.

I think the only thing different with the PocketWizards is that there's no hot shoe on the wizard, nor is their a synch cable on the SB600. I would think an inexpensive Hot-Shoe to sync cable adapter would work for the flash without having to buy a SU4 (they are rather expensive).

Perhaps something like this would work:

And you would need a PC sync cable if the Pocket Wizard does not come with one to attach the flash to the pocket wizard.
