Should an amateur photographer sell their photos?
I've begun to take photos on a camera my dad had, I think it's a Nikon D5200.
I've managed to take some good ones, which look pretty cool, and people have complimented me on them. Should I sell these photos as they are beginner ones for me? Where should I sell them? If not, why?
I'm rather clueless on this type of stuff, thanks for every good answer!
Here is a photo I took:
(I'm not necessarily focusing on a certain area, but what ever catches my eye I take a picture. Like so.)
Just to give some perspective: that photo is alright, not amazing, not terrible. Just alright.
I have some ship pictures which are miles better than that, they have been selected by Getty Images and uploaded on the Getty website - and not once have they been sold.
Selling pictures is a very tough thing to do these days.
For the bazillionth time, once you get paid to shoot pictures or if you are able to sell your pictures, you're not an amateur anymore. Money involved makes you a pro!
Friends will compliment you on your photos in order to be nice and encourage you. But please don't take that as meaning you would be able to sell them
There are many, many photographers more experienced than you who struggle to sell pictures. You will have to improve ten fold in order to consider your work good enough for someone to spend their hard earned money buying.
- Nikon has a factory in Thailand. Do they sell their products in their factory premises?
- Anyone want to give me their link to view their photos on Flickr?
- How do photo studio's transfer pictures from their cameras to their computers wirelessly?
