Nikon lens to Sony Alpha Adapter?

Belly B

As my Nikon body is dying and a new Nikon is out of my range I'm looking at the Sony Alpha. I've road tested the A65 DSLR and was pleasantly surprised. I would like to make the purchase, but I haven't found any really solid trustable sources to get an adapter ring, if they even exist. Provide me with decent options for this without an attitude and I'll select your answer to receive 10 pts. Give me attitude and I'll vote you down. Submit an answer that doesn't contain an answer and I'll report you.

Such adapters are available, but good ones cost so much
that it's far better to obtain a lens made for the camera.

Also, it's most likely that some or all automatic functions in the lens wouldn't work.

No attitude here, but a reality check.

Chances are your lens is a G series lens without an aperture ring. Even with a Nikon F to Sony Alpha adaptor, your lens won't be usable. Since there's no electronic connection between the Nikon lens and the Sony Alpha camera, you have to focus and set everything manually. With a G series lens, that's impossible, as there's no way to change f-stops, except via a compatible Nikon dslr body.

Besides that, you'll be using money that could go towards a good kit Sony lens on a piece of glass & plastic that will disappoint you. You know all the features that attracted you to the A65? You won't get them with an adapted lens.

Your best bets are to either save up until you can purchase a complete Sony outfit (maybe changing to a lower or older Sony model such as an A55?), or consider buying a Nikon D3100 body.

Getting an adaptor only makes sense if you have classic, valuable old lenses that you don't want to give up. Otherwise, it's pretty much an exercise in frustration.
