Manual focus not working?

So I have a Nikon d5200 DSLR camera with 18-55mm lens. The button to actually take the pic works. When I used to press it lightly, the photo will focus on the object I wanted to. Now I press lightly and nothing happens. My manual focus option can't be accessed. And when I press it lightly, in the right hand corner, it said [ r 03 ] and when I let go it switches so it said [ 258 ] and I have no clue what that means so please help! It worked the other day now it won't focus! Please someone help! It won't focus and it always has!

On page 30 of your Reference Manual, it says that "r 03" means that there are about 3 images that can be stored in the buffer. When you release it, it shows about how many images you can store on your memory card. These numbers have nothing to do with focus.

You say, "My manual focus option can't be accessed." If by this you mean you can't put the A-M switch in M, then the lens is broken and you need to replace it or have it repaired.
