Will this lens work with a Nikon FG?

I purchased a Nikon FG body for a film class I'm in.
I'm looking for a lens & was wondering if this will work fine with it:

(Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF Nikkor Lens)

or else:

(Nikon Nikkor 50mm 1:1.4 Manual Focus AI mount_

if both will work, which would be best out of the 2?

Both will fit, but they are a little pricey for a film camera.

I have an FG myself and I use the cheaper and old school E series lens. They have the manual aperture ring and focus. They are exactly the same and could in fact work better, since they are made for "film" cameras.

Here is a big list of them:

-Hope this helps, Good Luck

Either will work, but you'll save money with a 50mm f1.8, rather than the f1.4.

Any Nikkor with an aperture ring will work (and any third-party lens in AI mount), as long as you avoid the pre-AI type, and the older fisheyes which protrude into the body.

The AF lens will be lighter in weight, but neither will give much of an edge in performance over the other, and the FG originally came with the budget 50mm f1.8 Series E, which is perfectly adequate, and much cheaper than either.
