It just needs a Bayonet Mount, thats been the standard for 35mm lenses for fifty years or more. Mounts can be changed, so if its a screw mount, swap it

Definitely you would want to avoid G lenses. Those are lenses designed for digital cameras that lack a mechanical aperture ring. Most (although not all) G lenses are also DX. I think all the DX lenses are G.

The Nikon F camera will accept nearly all F mount lenses. The exception to this rule is VR lenses will not have VR capability and G lenses will only be able to be used at the smallest aperture due to lack of an aperture ring on the lenses. Also, you should check before using certain invasive fish eye lenses (like the 8mm f8) because they might cause damage to the mirror

You should be able to use nearly all lenses produced from 1959 until today, as long as they have an aperture ring, without a problem.

If I'm not mistaken, the F is Pre-AI so any Nikon F-mount lens will do except all D (digital) models that wouldn't fill the whole frame of film and G models that don't have an aperture ring.

I used to have a Nikkorex F to which I installed a 50mm f/1.8 AF. Of course I had to focus manually but the very light lens made up for the very heavy body. This was my dirty camera setup for sometime that I used for belly on the ground shooting. The camera did not survive the torture. The lens is now part of my youngest son's gear.
