I Need one because I goofed and bought a very nice MKE-400 external shotgun mic for my Nikon 1 V1.
My Nikon has a Hot shoe, my MKE-400 has a cold shoe.
I can't find a good adapter to fit the both so any help would great!

The Nikon 1 V1 is designed to capture still images. Video (and audio) capture is a "convenience feature".

Read the manual:

I hope you don't need any single video clip longer than 20 minutes - the file segmentation requirement will automatically shut down video capture. Page 38.

The camera will also shut down when the internal temperature gets too high (and that can be before the sequence gets to 20 minutes). Cool down takes a while. See pages xvi and 189.

Basically, if you got the camera specifically for video, you did not get the right tool for the job. A camcorder is a way better tool and does not suffer from these known, published problems. This does not mean the camera can't ake good video - it can - but there are work-arounds needed that are not necessary when the right tool for the job (i.e., camcorder) is used.

Good that you got an external mic - recording the internal camera noise in known. Also on page 38.

As for cold accessory shoes, use a "camera bracket". Consider more than one shoe. In addition to the external mic, a video light may be beneficial.

This one is better, but lots more money

What you need is the Nikon AS-N1000 cold shoe adapter. It attaches to the proprietary Nikon V1 hot shoe, and provides a cold shoe for attachment of accessories such as a remote mic.

I use this very same adapter for my V1 with my Audio Technica Pro24CM mic. The mic plugs into the mic input on the side of the V1.

You can also buy a flash bracket if you wish - especially if your mic is rather large. The Audio Technica I use is on the smaller side, so it works OK with the AS-N1000 adapter.
