I would like a new camera because i'm going to start creating videos, and i'm not sure which camera is best, i've looked up the nikon D800, but i thought it looked a bit old fashioned, anyone know of any other good filming cameras?

D800 old fashioned? Ha! Ha! It's one of Nikon's latest models.

You base your choices on what something LOOKS like? Surely tech specs are what you should be looking at?

For video I would personally check out the Sony range, though depending on your budget you might prefer the styling of some camcorders… Sony and Canon make pro-level camcorders (very expensive though)… Or even the consumer-level camcorders might suit you. You might find using DSLRs restrictive as the sensor can 'overheat' and needs to shut down till it cools off… If you have some experience you will know ways round these restrictions though.

Check out You Tube for some ideas of how the cameras 'handle' i'm not endorsing You Tube reviewers but the reviews can be useful for 'checking' out what's available… And the amount of cash that you might have to consider investing.

The Blackmagic cinema camera has some interesting reviews on You Tube - not suggesting that you purchase one… Very expensive and has some drawbacks… Let's you see what's out there though and what it's capable of producing.

Videos are best made with video cameras, a.k.a.camcorders. They do a superior job of focusing and sound recording. Still cameras do video, but as sort of a hobby, a side line. You want to do "filming", get a camcorder.

Personally I use canon EOS M. But I don't know precisely the feature you like as it was not mentioned. If you like a low cost model or manual or auto focus? I recommend you to visit the site for details

The D800 is a superb camera - for stills.

Sony's SLTs do better video than any DSLR, and their full-frame models are cheaper, but if video is all you want, buy a camcorder.

You want to do it with a 35mm DSLR rather than a good camcorder?
Sony A99 for more control over the video-taking process.
Canon 6D would probably be better over-all for video.

You don't want a DSLR stills camera. You want to buy a proper video camera.
