What DSLR camera lenses is best for insects?

I have a Nikon D40
i take pictures a lot with a compact camera of arthropods and i recently got a Nikon D40 i don't know much about lenses but witch would be best for zoom and focus on arthropodic creatures

any help is most appreciated

You need a macro lens - I believe Nikon calls them "micro" lenses.

Just go to the Nikon website and have a look at their lenses there, then start shopping via google.

The Nikon 105mm f2.8 macro lens or if budget is limited, the SIgma 105mm f2.8 macro (which is a tack sharp lens).

The 105mm focal length will allow you to back off a bit from the insect & help to avoid 'spooking' them.

And yes, Selina is quite correct so the thumbs down is inappropriate.
