TV cable for Nikon D3100?

I want to playback my pictures on my TV. What cable do I need in order for it to work on my D3100? What port do I use: HDMI or A/V? I tried it with a video jack and it didn't work, but worked on my Canon point and shoot.

It would be much better to put your photos in a computer where you can edit them, crop as needed, straighten crooked horizons, enhance color and exposure, etc., and then hook the computer to the TV or any montitor via an HDMI cord.
