Nikon D3000 flash problem?
I've had my Nikon for about 2 years and all of a sudden every time i try to take a picture with the flash on, the flash pops up but makes a clicking noise every time i try to take picture and the flash won't go off. Is there any non- dangerous way i can fix it myself without having to go to a camera place
Just get a flash unit and don't worry about it. For what it would cost to repair, you could get an external flash and have a much better flash. The pop-up flash is not really good for much in the first place.
As Trixie said, get an external flash. The <$60 flash at Wal Mart is actually a pretty good one. Sure, it's no super flash, but for average use, it's fine. It's much better than the flip up flash, except when shooting something really close because you'll get a shadow. Also, you will need to set the camera for rear curtain sync because with front curatin sync you'll get some of the infrared metering light in the image.
Do yourself and your photographs a favor and look at the Nikon SB400.It's a fairly compact, yet versatile external flash that is dedicated to the Nikon lighting system.
