I have a nikonD3100 & i'm planning on purchasing a lens for it but which lens
will be best for a soccer game. It's the CONCACAF & It'll be held at the Georgia Dome Stadium.
I bought the front row corner tickets which is where all the action happens.
I have a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Zoom-Nikkor VR lens but i know for sure that's not going to cut it.lol
Which lens would be good for close-up quality range pictures?

You need a pretty fast lens to shoot indoors.

When I shoot indoor football, I use a 300 mm f/2.8 lens, but that lens cost right around $6, 000, not an option for you I don't think

The AF-S 70-300 mm VR lens is a good one for shooting field sports, but in order to shoot as shutter speeds of 1/500th second or faster indoors, you will have to raise you ISO quite a bit and deal with the noise later.

Here is a sample shot taken a night using a 300 mm f/2.8 lens @ 1/500th second on an old D300 at 3200 ISO.

If you time you shots to shoot at the peak of action, you will get better shots and less blur caused by subject or camera movement if you can't shoot at high shutter speeds.

I was going to suggest you also use a monopod to hold the camera for the length of the actual game, but since you are not on the sidelines, you will have to use some other way to hold the camera steady

A soccer field is 100 yards long and 60 yards wide; action can really happen anywhere and with that lens you can cover the entire field while sitting on a row
