How to get my DSLR (Nikon d3100) to focus when filming myself? - 1

I set up my camera on a tripod and tried filming myself (beauty guru for YouTube) but when I bring objects up close to the camera to show the viewers it doesn't focus on the objects! How do I get it to focus without having to focus it manually because I'm filming myself? Are there special settings?

You still need to press the shutter halfway down so that the camera focuses.
EDIT: My bad… There's actually an option called "Full-time Servo AF" or "AF-F" that focuses on stuff on it's own.

While in Live View, press the i button. Then go to where you set the focus and set it to AF-F.

It's not the best, so if you want better results, use an actual video camera or instead of bringing stuff up close (I'm guessing so people can see the name of the product), just write the name of it somewhere in the video in post production. Most video editing programs should be able to do that.
