Difference between these lenses?

I'm going to get nikon d3100 dslr cam but what's the difference between these two lenses? --nikon 30- 700mm and nikon 85mm

Well there's NO Nikkor 30-700 mm lens

There's a AF-S 70-300 mm VR lens used to shoot action, sports and some wildlife

The 85 mm is used on full frame dSLR's as a portrait lens. Too long for your D3100

Zoom lens like 70-300 or 55-200 are very different than 85mm.
they are for capturing objects far away.
85mm are usually a chosen lens for portraits. Its not wide not normal just a bit of tele, but short enough to be portrait ideal lens.

If you don't know, you aren't ready for a DSLR.
