What's the difference between these two lenses? Am I missing something?

A friend gave me a D5000 and I need an18-55mm lens… I came across these two and I'd really like to know what the difference is! Thanks!

Added (1). Do you think the Image stabilization is worth it? I'm not really sure which one I should purchase:/

The VR is image stabilized, otherwise they have the same optics.

For that lens, VR is not really THAT necessary, but can definitely come in handy when doing video or shooting in darker conditions

VR really shines more on the telephoto side (100mm+)

Get the refurbished VR version. The VR is nice to have. Both are optically almost identical.
