Can you charge your Nikon D3000 in the computer, or do you need the charger?

I can't find my charger, and I was wondering if you could just charge it with the USB used for uploading pictures.

Almost no camera can charge using the USB port of your computer.
if you can't find it, you will have to buy a replacement charger from Nikon

I'm afraid not. The D3000's battery needs the charger. You might be able to pick up a 3rd party universal charger for a lower price than a new D3000- specific charger online or in your nearest camera shop.
