Buying my first dsl?

Nikola

I'm buying my first dslr, but I can't decide on the brand or class of the camera.
Canon, nikon or pentax? I'm considering buying few extra lenses too.
Canon 650d (or 60d) vs Nikon d5200 (or d7000) vs Pentax k-30 (or k-5)?
I'm on a tight budget, in Croatia (Europe) I can get 650d for 600 dollars, k-30 and d5200 for 850$ (kit lens). I really like pentax but their lenses seem expensive and they are rare in second hand shops. Canon is the cheapest and I've seen some of my friends using it, but nikon and pentax on reviews have better IQ.
I enjoy taking portraits and landscapes, and blured backround bokeh that I can't get on my nikon bridge camera so I think that dslr is right thing to buy.

Find a dealer, handle them, and work it out for yourself.

The reason Pentax are rare in second-hand shops is because the numpties who think a DSLR will magically transform them into prize-winning photographers, have never heard of them.

These idiots buy a Cannon (they can't spell it) or Nikon and throw away any kit that takes lousy photos, not realising that the kit isn't the problem. Anyone intelligent enough to buy Pentax, hangs onto his kit and tries to learn how to use it.

First of all, all the modern cameras of consumer level produced by top brands are very good. I would say, they are incredibly good compared to what even the worlds top professionals could afford 10 years ago. So what actually makes photos is your own skills and vision.

Second: normally the lenses you own will make much more sense and contribute more into your images rather than camera body. After all you will change your cameras much more often than your lenses. So I would suggest you to start from lenses perspective: ask your friends what systems they use and what lenses they own? If everybody using one brand - choose it because in this case you will be able to try/borrow more lenses which gives more flexibility to your creative process.

Third: don't forget about computer treatment. Just check reallyniceimages.com or vsсо. Со, to see how good Lightroom presets can influence your photos. From this point of view only lens and final treatment matters and no difference what camera brand you have.

Have fun )

Pentax is great. That's the reason you hardly find their cameras and lenses secondhand. Whatever camera you get however, picture quality will be the same. It depends highly on user skill. The camera and lens are only tools. You can take any picture with any dSLR. All dSLR's are good.

I would really push for the K-30 and the WR 18-55mm lens for full waterproofing. Although few, there are still some secondhand film lenses floating around eBay and other sites. If you can deal with manual focus, your choices would be more (including those screwmounts that only need a cheap adapter). If not, there are still old autofocus film lenses out there. Bear in mind that only Pentax can say that all lenses made by them and for them will work with all their dSLR's.
