Best Nikon/Canon professional DSLR camera?

So, I really want to get a really good SLR/DSLR camera! But they're so many out there that look really good! ~ What's the best one you recommend? I'm thinking of getting the Nikon D7000 or the D5100?

I'd say the Canon 5d Mark 3 - about $4, 500 retail. The two Nikons you mention are not professional cameras… These are consumer level dslr cameras. Professional cameras start at about $3, 000 and go up.

Sony do professional (full frame) cheaper than either.

If you're looking at mid/entry level as with the Nikons you mentioned, Pentax are just as good. Olympus do much the same job in a lighter body and Sony do better video - of course, all of this depends on your finding a dealer, handling a couple of candidates and thinking for yourself.

Here are the best dSLR's. They are really, really good.

The D7000 is almost twice as much as the D5100, it has better high ISO performance, better and bigger body, top LCD screen, 39 vs 9 AF points with faster tracking, bigger viewfinder and is faster at everything else. You can still take pictures with the D5100 or any lower DSLR, it just depends on what you need.

Neither of those are true professional camera. The D7000 is a semi-professional camera and the D5100 is an entry-level DSLR. If you want a professional DSLR, I would recommend either the Canon 1D Mark IV or 1DX or perhaps the Nikon D4 or D3X. Or if you just want a slightly lower end professional DSLR, then I would suggest the Canon 5D Mark III. It is a pretty brilliant camera. Or if you are a Nikon fan then perhaps the recently released D600? I believe it is relatively cheap compared to the others.

None of the cameras you listed are professional cameras.

dSLR does not make it pro.

The very minimum camera bodies that could be considered pro are Nikon D700, D800, Sony A99, Canon 5D Mark III.

Nikon D5100 is an entry level dSLR, D7000 semi-pro.
