I've been saving up my money for quiet some time for a new DSLR, I have used a wide variety of cameras both nikon and canon so I've done my research, but I'm wondering if anyone can give an estimate of the price drop that is supposed to happen to the 5d mark ii once the 6d comes out? Any price drop at all would be great, I'm eager to get a new camera and sell my nikon but I do not want to throw my money away if the price is about to drop by a lot.

Zero. It's been my observation that DSLR's, especially the top of the line, drop nothing for quite a while, at least a year, and then very little. Canon will have time the production of the older camera so that few are left in the pipeline and then count on continued demand to clean it out. They don't need to reduce the price, so they don't.

The Canon 5D, Mark III costs $3, 500. The Canon 5D, Mark II cameras that are still out there cost $2, 200. That is a substantial price drop. The 6D is only $2, 100, so they appear to be in a different class than the 5D series camera, competing with Nikon's D600, or entry level full frame cameras.

Hopefully if you are buying a Canon full frame camera, you do not think it is a waste of money, no matter what it costs

Price already dropped from $2, 500 to $1, 800 and now it is $1, 700 on BH and amazon. There were bundle deals from BH and others with 5d ii + 24-105mm + printer for $2, 600. This bundle includes a $400 rebate, sells the printer for $150 and lens for $800, then you are getting the body for ~ 1250. Not to mention the cash back and goodies with this deal as well. Just fyi, they stopped production on 5d ii, once it's gone it is gone for good. Someone mention they had the same issue between the transition from 5D and 5Dii. He waited too long for 5D to drop in price and ultimately he purchased 5d ii cause of dried up stock. If you are not concern with the large rebate and selling a couple items, then the bundle may be the best deal ATM.
