Which DSLR Camera to buy in India?

I have to choose from Nikon D5100 and Canon 600D and I'm a little confused regarding buying it because some say Nikon is better and some say Canon is better. I need camera just because I have a wish to have a DSLR camera and no professional stuff. So please Help me.

Why do you "have" to choose between those two specific models?

Either camera will be fine. Canon and Nikon both make excellent quality equipment. Anybody who tells you otherwise is a liar or an idiot.

Technically, between those two the D5100 is slightly better specified.

That is not the whole story though. Try both cameras in your hands. See which one feels best to you. Either will give you excellent pictures as they both have similar sized sensors, so you can't really go wrong with either one.

One more thing - do your family or friends already have Nikon or Canon gear? If they do, can you borrow lenses or get help from them about how to use it? That might turn out to be more useful than any potential missing esoteric feature on one camera or the other.

I'd go for a Pentax, others would take Sony (better video) or Olympus.

Only stupid people buy either without checking out the competition first, so see what's available in your price range, handle them and pick the one you like.
