Which camera? I can't decide?
I have a Sony HX100, but the photos are not as sharp as it should, they are like watercolor paintings even though the ISO is 100!
which of these cameras are good?
Nikon D5100
Nikon D5200
Canon 650D
(Is 5100 better than 5200 because of less MP in the same sensor size?)
Here is a comparison between all of the cameras.
I really like this site.
They are very accurate.

Nikon kills the Canon.
The Nikon D5200 wins.
You will be really happy with Nikon.
I went through 4 babied Canon cameras.
They just died out of the blue.
I switched to Nikon and I'm problem free.
If you can afford the D5200, the Pentax K-30 is well worth considering (it meters with MF lenses and has VR built into the body - the weather-sealing is a bonus).
Discuss your options with a dealer.
You shoulf get the 650d or the 700d both very good cameras
Go with a canon Rebel.
Thoughts.
If you can't get excellent pictures with an HX100, you wouldn't either with a dSLR.
Megapixels only tell picture size, not quality.
All dSLR's are basically the same. They are all good.
Picture quality depends on user skill. The camera is only a tool.
Discipline is all that is needed to take great looking pictures. It's all in the light. Restrain yourself from taking pictures if light is poor. If you really have to, like indoors and low light, use flash. Only take pictures if lighting is ideal. That's what the best photographers do. Practice with your HX100 and when you start looking for other ways to control the light then that would be the time to move up to a dSLR.
