Power problems with Nikon D80?
My father is having problems Nikon D80 camera. We had inserted the battery (fully charged) but the camera won't turn on. We have changed the batteries, press the reset button, but nothing worked, Please respond fast as you can and suggest solutions to this problem.
Did this just start happening?
Using a small flashlight, look into the battery compartment and see if the battery contacts are in good shape (nothing bent or broken)
At this point all you can do it take the camera into a repair shop and have them look at it.
It is so rare that a battery compartment will fail to see and use a battery as to be non-existant.
I have an old Nikon D100(cira 2002) and it still accepts the battery just fine. Even my old Nikon F4s from the late 1980's has no battery issues.
If you're sure the battery is charged ( check for 8 volts at the terminals ) next be sure the card cover and the battery door are closed. If you've let the battery get too low, sometimes the charger won't recognize the battery, and will not charge it - though you think it is. Check around the battery door opening for a very small switch and then look at the battery door for a tab that pushes that switch. Sometimes the tab breaks off. If that's the case you can find one on the internet - since NIkon no longer sells parts for their cameras. If none of this helps, you'll have to take to a Nikon authorized shop for a factory repair.
The best person for the job is located at the authorized Nikon service center. Ask the store you bought the camera from where that is.
