I already have a nikon d60 however its abit too complicated for me and heavy. So i was thinking of selling and buying a nikon j1. Which one would you recommend?

Buy a cheap compact as a backup, but NEVER relinquish a DSLR.

In terms of performace the D60 will still be better due to the much larger sensor size of the D60, and also the D60 can hardly be considered heavy, as to complexity, you'll still be faced with the same issues on any camera.

I don't understand your question. I know that a dSLR is bigger and heavier, but complicated?

You can put the D60 and the J1 in "auto" mode, both will work exactly the same. So if you can't work the D60, how will you use the J1?

If you want a simple point and shoot type camera with near dSLR image quality, then yes the J1 is fine, don't worry about it, just sell the dSLR. Ignore anyone getting all worked up about dSLRs being the best tool in all situations.compact cameras have their place, and for casual users they are fine.

Too many working photographers and enthusiasts feel the need to push their needs and ideals on shooters that might not be looking for the same thing.

Novelty item vs Workhorse camera. If the D60 is overly complicated for you, a Coolpix would be the better choice. The J1 would still force you to think.
