Lens compatibility? Did i buy a dud?

Is the tele lentar f/3.5 Nikon mount auto fixed focal length compatible with Nikon d70 s? If so… How do I take pictures, I can't get it to work

Nikon has used the same lens mount since the late 1950s. If the lens fits on the camera but it won't shoot, try using the camera in M (manual) mode.

Does the lens you bought have a Nikon F-mount?

Those generic lenses came in, CS mounts, T-mounts, Rollei, Minolta mounts and others.
