How to take photos like Candida Hofer?

I'm doing a project on theaters of Lisbon, much like the works of Candida Hofer but, for me, as a student, i only can work with digital photography. How can i take pictures like that without the medium and large format?
if it helps i have a nikon d5100 and have these lenses:
the kit lens - 18-55mm
a samyang fish-eye 8mm
and a 50mm 1.8

Just take your camera with the 18-55 lens and set the f-stop somewhere around f-20 to give you a good depth of field, compose the shot and shoot it. You may need to have a fairly long shutter speed to let in enough light for a good exposure. A tripod could be of benefit if the shutter speed is to slow to hand hold the camera. Just practice and see what you get, then make modifications from there.
