How to get more photography clients? Details inside?

I've been doing photography for about 6 months. I know that's a short time and I know everyone and their dog thinks they are a pro photographer these days. However, I do get clients, just not very many and not very consistently. I get an occasional engagement shoot and I've booked two weddings and shot one so far. My facebook page is facebook.com/marqellealexanderphotography I've seen another girl ask this and get berated and I'm just here for constructive criticism. If you were looking for a photographer and came across me, what would make you pass me up. I charge 120 for family, friends, maternity, and newborn pictures.ni charge 80 just for single pictures. And I was charging 400 for weddings but had to stop doing weddings due to my work schedule. What jumps out at you negatively or positively? Btw I have a Canon Rebel XS that I haven't used yet. The photos on my site were with my nikon D50

6 months and you think you're good enough to charge.

I looked at your Facebook page.

I have nothing more to say.

Others probably will.

Mark I think that's funny being as how professional photographers, which I'm assuming you are not, would give the advice that I need to higher my prices in order to show clients that I do quality work. If you did photography for 6 months and were STILL doing it for free, then there's something wrong with you.

I'm sure that you are not producing the quality images on a routine basis that working pros do.

Most of us have some kind of formal education, enough to understand the fundamentals of photography and many years experience using many different kinds of cameras under all kinds of conditions and are capable of producing marketable images each time we press the shutter release.

Switching from Nikon to Canon is a sure sign of a novice attempting to be a pro. Yes, there are times when a pro will move from one system to another, but they will not be bouncing between entry level dSLR cameras.

Before you can even start charging people for work, you need to get a business license and Federal Tax ID and you must know the cost of doing business so you do not go out of business within the first few months.

By spending some time on this website, you will see what other cost you will need to consider, including liability insurance.

I could not locate your Facebook link, but found your Craigs List ad. You seriously need to expand your understanding of lighting and posing in order to attract more customers. If I were in your shoes I would take a hiatus in attempting to find clients and work towards honing my skills, come back with a stronger portfolio and prices that you can make a living from.
