External microphone for Nikon D5100?

I want to start making short films and I know that the sound quality with the built in mic, while great for close up interviews, is not great for film. I'm looking for a quality microphone that is under $200 for my D5100. I would like cheaper, but I'd rather pay more for quality.

Well first you can't make film with a digital camera… They don't use film. Film is extremely expensive and way out of the normal person's budget. In fact, most people don't make in a year what one good
35mm camera would cost.

Digital cameras do video, not film.

Mikes? I recommend Shure and Sennheiser - the two best brands out there.
