Camera help: Nikon D5000?
I have had this camera for a few years now, but still don't know how to use it very well. There are frustrating moments when the camera won't take pictures, focus the way I want it to, etc.
I have two lenses as well.
- Nikon DX AF--S Nikkor 18-55 mm 1:3.5-5.6G
- Nikon DX SWM ED ∞-0.95m/3.12 ft. ∅52
Are there classes where I can learn how to take good pictures with this equipment? If not, then how?
Well, there's nothing wrong with your kit, but it's more common to refer to your second lens as a 55-200mm.
Your local college may run evening classes, but if not, there's nothing wrong with raiding your local library for books/DVDs on technique - the Nikon website can also give you a couple of pointers.
The big thing in photography is getting the camera to do what you want, because the computer between your ears is a thousand times more powerful than your camera's electronics will ever be.
Try checking on youtube. There should alot of videos available which can cater for your needs
You have discovered that having a dSLR does not automatically make you a good photographer. It really is only worth having if you control it to get the pictures the way you like it to be and not depend on it to take the fabulous shots you want.
Yes, there are lots of classes going on anywhere. Just keep an eye open on the streets and in newspapers. There are also lots of tutorials, free and paid in the internet. You only have to Search lightly.
For the love of photography however, I can't seem to decrypt your second lens but that shouldn't be critical to my answer.
