Camera Help? Nikon D5000?

So I have a Nikon D5000 at the moment.
And but I want to know what the best settings are.
*I'm not a photographer. And I don't plan on being one.
I'm just a noob with a camera. So could anyone help me out?

Learn how to use the cameras light meter using the user manual (your new best friend).

There's no best setting for all situations. You have to learn to adjust the exposure properly as the lighting changes. The site is a good way to start learning the basics of exposure. There's three parts to it: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Once you get those down, you'll start getting some good photos.

The P or the little pictures. That's the best settings if you can't or will not take the trouble to learn photography and your camera.

One nice thing about digital photography is that you can delete
any pix that aren't any good without wasting any money.
Read the magazines (Popular Photography, for example).
Try what others have done and see if you get similar results.
If not, you ain't doin' it right. Keep trying until you get good results.
An even better idea is to take a photo class at a community college.
