Nikon SLR Cameras

Both photography and videos?

I'm stuck between the nikon d5100 and canon t3i.
I'm a film maker but I also do a lot of photography. Which one is better?
Please don't say "it depends on the photographer " or a dumb smart comment.
A simple answer based on your preference Is all I'm asking. Also do not suggest getting a cam corder.

They are both good cameras. But if you want to focus on video making then stick to Canon, they are well know to have good video quality and more capabilities over Nikon.

My preference is always for Canon, but I have been shooting Canon for decades. In reality, the better camera is the one that fits better in your hand. The easier it is to manipulate the controls, the faster you can respond to shooting situations. Also, if you have friends or family invested in one of these camera families, you can borrow lenses and get help with questions. I help out my Canon owning friends all the time. The ones that own Nikon are out of luck.

Both are equal - only difference is personal preference - control layout etc.
Performance - the high tech tests will tell you that camera A has a better performing sensor under blah de blah conditions but in the real world watching videos shot side by side you won't tell the difference.

For video the new T4i would be a better choice because it has full time auto focus during video when used with an STM lens.

Sorry if that equates to a "dumb smart" comment.
