Autofocus for a Nikon d5000?
I have a nikon camera a D5000, I want to start making videos and stuff, but when I video tape and move around and or hold things to the lens it loses focus and does not refocus itself. The switch on the side is on Automatic focus. Can someone please tell me the exact steps I need to take to get it to focus while taping otherwise I have to stop focus it then start again which is ridiculous.
That's the problem with many DSLRs with video - the autofocus doesn't work.
You have to focus manually when shooting video.
That camera does not have auto focus in video mode. You will need to focus manually.
Actually stopping your take is not reduculous. It is what professional film and video makers do between takes. It is just part of the routine.
You can spend $1, 500 for a camera mount with LCD loupe and follow focus device if you want to be able to pull focus for certain scenes. In the motion picture biz, they have one person whose job is to pull focus and interestingly enough they are called focus pullers (first assistant photographer).
Here is what you need to know so you do not become more frustrated trying to shoot video using a dSLR (still camera with a video "feature")
