Who pays for return postage? - 1
I sold a vintage camera online for $5 reserve < very cute vintage Nikon 70s camera
Why? - I stated in the auction that I have not touched it for years (last used was like 2005) and wasn't sure of the condition. I did not deceive anyone since I didn't test it out before I sold it etc. Why would I scam people and make a high reserve when I don't know the state of it?
Before auction closed, no one asked me about the condition or to check anything. So I wasn't responsible for people bidding high as they did (top bid was around $60)
The buyer received the camera TELLING ME AFTER THE AUCTION that he just bought it for the lens and wanted a full refund PLUS the return postage. Threatening me to place bad feedback and saying I didn't reply his emails when in my inbox, trash and spam there was none. He was very unhappy and so was I to give the refund back!
I'm happy to give him the refund of the item and the postage that I SENT HIM, not incl retun postage.
He keeps complaining to me when he hasn't even sent the camera back yet…
What do you guys think?
p.s. This buy and sell thing is like the New Zealand version of Ebay… I'm not a business I was just selling my vintage items that I don't want anymore.
Buyer pays the return shipping, unless there's a seller error.
Report them, sounds like maybe a theft scam. Call UPS and ask them how to handle it that you'd pay for its return on your credit card (but won't send the guy money to return it). Then tell the guy to return it via UPS and give him the tracking number and such. Or maybe ask when it will be ready for pickup and then tell that day/time to UPS.
When he bought it only for the lenses, well will the lenses be returned to you? If the lenses belonged to the camera and it was an important part of the sale then he should return the "entire" camera and lenses to you (even though you'd take a loss).
