I know many of you will answer nikon but i know nothing about dslr. I want to start photography. I visited nearby retailer and had a look on both of the camera. Both were good enough but sony had an edge over, it is easier to use while setting aperture, shutter speed and stuff in nikon was complicated to get a good picture as i know nothing about it. Automatic mode and semiauto was better in sony. And even picture turned out to be great in sony overall.
Don't suggest any other brand please.

I'd pick the Sony but then I use a DSLR anyway and have Sony/Minolta accessories. I actually prefer a big EVF to a tiny optical viewfinder

Having an LCD that at least flips is better than one that is fixed, but the Sony has just about half the screen resolution. If you could find an older A57 or A65 it would be better.

If most of your shots will be taken using the EVF then the Sony will be OK as long as you don't go in for intensive lens changing (that model has a plastic as opposed to metal lens mount.)

Before buying anything, go and handle a Pentax K50. The optical viewfinder is much better and it's weather-sealed too.

Either camera can get you excellent results. Since your hands said that the Sony was for you, listen to your hands.

What you've experienced is very common. Nikon's are great cameras, but they ergonomics aren't up to par with other brands.
You should also take a look at the Pentax K50. The Pentax K50, like the Sony, beats the Nikon in both features and ergonomics. The Pentax has a faster AF and shoots faster too, which makes it the better one for action or sequence shooting.
