What's a mini dv camcorder? - 1

Gummy

Could anyone tell me what those things are?
I've heard they record good quality videos. Are they like the usual camcorders in which you have to record and then plug it into the pc or tv to watch the videos? Also do they capture good clarity pictures?

Actually i've to make youtube videos.could anyone suggest me a good one under 250$?
Or as an alternative should i go for a digital camera like the nikon l120?

Pardon my grammar.

When written as miniDV that is the trademark for the digital videotape system that uses a cassette. Tape records high datarate video, so yes it is good quality. And the audio used in miniDV is uncompressed digital, the best possible. To download the video to a computer, it is done with a ieee1394 port, which has to be added as an option for most computers. To watch on TV, there's an AV connection and you can playback tape to the television. Clarity is very good, and much better than HD camcorders for action sports.

The last consumer miniDV camera is the Canon ZR960, which has a MSLP of $250.

That being said, you don't need miniDV quality for Youtube. Youtube uses highly compressed video so simpler digital video cameras will work about as well and save you some money. You might want to look at the Kodak Playtouch, but in the sub-$250 category there are a lot of other camcorders that would be suitable for Youtube as well.
