What is your preferred rifle round?

I just perchest a Nikon Prostaff 5 with the BDC (Bullet Drop Compensator) reticle and hoping to use it to start shooting a little longer distances. I'm currently shooting the Federal Premium Vital Shock Trophy Bonded Tip out of my 270wsm out to 400 yards. Anyone have a go to round. The one I have is doing just fine and I have taken 4 deer with it so far with no problems but just wondering what everyone else is using?

Added (2). @ Falconry2. I have definently found that my gun likes the 140 or 150 over the 130's, and it shoots the 140's just a tad better than the 150's.

I'm looking to start reloading also. Even the stuff I use is right around the $50 mark a box.

I'm usually not a huge fan of BDC reticles either but with this one you can use the spot on app, and put in your load information, and it will tell you where to put each circle of the reticle for the yardage at a given power. So I thought, what the heck. I'll give it a shot.

I will also look at the Barnes series of ammo when I get back home. (Deployed) Thank you.

Added (3). Sorry, I meant more of the specific bullet, brand and all. Not so much the caliber.

I have a.270 and love it. I also love the similar 30-06. The.270 is basically the 30-06 with less kick

I prefer a.300 win mag. Its a very universal round. I can be used from anything from antelope to grizzlies

I can't say I have one favorite load.
There's a warm fuzzy feeling I get with 348 Winchester using 220 grain Barnes bullets, and 7x57 with 175 grain Nosler Partitions (I won't give propellant loads, because they'd both be unsafe in other rifles). But I have way more projects than I'll ever get around to finishing, including some playing around with 270 WSM and 140 Partitions, and 9.3x62 with a couple of 250 grain bullets, among the more recent playthings.

My go-to rifle rounds would be.30-06 Springfield, M2 Ball Greek HXP (Pyrkal) from the CMP ---- and just about anybody's.308 Winchester that has a brass casing and a reasonable price per round.
