What are some good dslr camera brands? - 1
I kno about Canon and Nikon… What are your thoughts on them and how they compare to other brands
There are other brands of course. Fuji is the only one that I'd recommend other than Canon or Nikon.
DSLR brands, the top ones are Canon and Nikon but you can't exempt the heirarchy of Leica and Hasselblad, two companies whose cameras are insanely expensive but create astounding pictures nonetheless
Sony, Pentax, Olympus.
You can't buy a bad dSLR, go and hold them, YOU choose, don't let biased people here choose for you. People here have never used other brands so haven't a clue.
Stick to them when buying your first DSLR, they're oldest in the Digital SLR Area.
Here's a post called 'Buying a DSLR, what's important, megapixels, features, brand, price, quality and which one to buy - http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/03/which-dslr-to-buy.html

Haha, Pentax is one of the oldest camera makers in Japan, so I don't know what others are going on about. They make high quality gear at a good price, always.
Pentax as mentioned, but Olympus and Sony (Konica Minolta technology) are also great. As said before, don't let others choose for you. Go to the store and try them out yourself, we won't know what you will like, so trust yourself. And don't let salespeople and gearheads try to talk you into buying a camera because it has the most megapixels or something like that (megapixel count is NOT important in image quality). Pick them up, see which is a joy for you to shoot!
