Annette Leigh Haynes

Nikon F Manual Prism has no metering system for Vivitar 3x Tele-Converter using 35mm lens with 3x Tele-Converter should I use a lower f stop? Using Makinon Macro 80mm to 200mm zoom lens f1: 4.5 with 3x Tele-Converter how many f-stops should I stop down?
Can you help me on this issue?

Added (1). I'm using Gossen Luna Pro F Light-Meter.

Start with three stops and I guess it would be trial and error from there. I would assume three would get you pretty close, though.

You will lose 3 stops when using the 3x teleconverter. An f2.8 lens will be an f8.4 and an f4.5 will be an f13.5. At f8 either lens would have the light gathering ability of an f24 aperture.

I suggest using a good tripod and shooting on a sunny day.
