Timed Exposure Is my Picture good? 35mm Nikon F?
Timed Exposure Is my Picture good? 35mm Nikon F? - 1
I'm a Nikon F fan and use my F2sb regularly!
As to if a photograph is "good" is a matter of opinion, however there are some basic guidelines that usually ensure a visually compelling image.
1--Composition here is lacking in deliberation. Parts of your subject are cropped on the left yet there's negative space on your right. Centering the subject is always fine but also consider The Rule of Thirds when composing.
2--At this size, it's difficult to be sure but it looks as though your focus is soft, probably due to motion blur. When doing long exposures, it's important to use a solid tripod and a remote shutter release.
3--Due to your selection of a daylight balanced film, and limited availability of tungsten balanced film, the image is shifted unnaturally to red/orange. This can be corrected in editing with some understanding of color balance. Similarly, I'd recommend "crushing the blacks."
You chose a challenging subject matter and used an older camera and to render your image so this wasn't going to be an easy photo to take well. However, you did get the exposure correct and it's a neat image and good experience if nothing else.
Best of luck with your photography, don't give up!
Also, please be kind enough to choose a best answer!
Its ok from a technical point of view. I hazard a guess that the negative was a bit over-exposed, and the printer tried to compensate. For subjects of that sort, you should bracket exposures, shoot several shots at different exposure settings. That photo could have been taken on any reasonable quality camera which uses film.
- How to take self portraits with timed autofocus on Nikon D3100?
- How do these timed shutter releases connect to the camera?
- If I set up a Nikon d5 and a d7100 next to each other both on the same Iso, and exposure and so on. Would the d5 be more exposure?
- How come when i do a long exposure with Nikon D3100, my picture comes out white?
- Why would I choose Nikon 17-35mm over the Nikon 16-35mm, or vice-versa?
