Bokeh effect in photography? - 1
I have a nikon s5100 slr. How can I create bokeh effects with it.
1) I think you mean 'D5100'
2) Depends on the lens you have
3) Choose the lowest f-stop for your camera (like f/1.8)
4) Just plain bokeh photos lack subject and interest, so put something in front to make a subject, like this: or this:
5) To get the best bokeh, get a prime lens, like a 50mm f/1.8 lens.
Bokeh is NOT an effect but the description of the out of focus area behind a finely focused subject usually associated with medium to long telephoto lenses. It is no more an effect than having your subject in focus or using a high shutter speed to capture action, rather it is one of the physical techniques used that is based upon the photographers understanding of the fundamentals of photography
So, that means that if you use some kind of fast medium to long telephoto lens on our D5100, you will get some out of focus backgrounds if you set up your shot correctly
A link that explains the term, Bokeh
The nikon s5100 is a point and shoot…
if that is your camera - then you can get the bokeh by shooting with the macro setting…
but you would need to be up close, so you couldn't do it with portraits…
