Nikon F with DW-1 Waist Level Finder?

Added (1). Is the DW-1 compatible with the Nikon F? Any differences from the original WLF?

The DW-1 is designed for use on the Nikon F2, so no, it is not compatible with the Nikon F.

DW-1 finders are designed for use with the Nikon F2, not the F, there are no finders, I'm aware of, that are cross-compatible between the two models.

All the WLFs for the F and F2 are same in terms of features, just different styles really. According to:

https://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/michaeliu/cameras/nikonf/ffinders/fviewfinders.htm

"These came in two versions, an earlier 3-sided (and more common) version, and a 4-sided (after the F2's introduction) version. Both are conventional waist-level finders, with lids that flip open to view the screen and a 3x magnifier (which may be moved aside) to allow for better focusing."

You probably already know that if you're not doing waist level regularly, you can simply remove your prism finder and use the view screen as a WLF but having a proper finder mounted will, of course provide a clearer image (due to the hood) and protect the camera more effectively.

The Nikon F is a mighty camera, I personally prefer and regularly use an F2sb. I need something a bit faster to operate! Anyway, I hope you find what you're looking for and continue to enjoy it!

Happy shooting and please be kind enough to choose a best answer!
