Nikon d3300 battery grip?

So I recently bought a Nikon D3300 battery grip online at Amazon and I charged the batteries and put the battery grip in and it's saying add a battery designated for the camera? I plugged into the cord and everything and it's not working?! On the manual it says it's campatable with d3300!

Is it a Nikon grip? If it's third party, you take your chances.

It isn't a Nikon grip, Nikon don't support the D3000/D5000 series cameras with battery grips.
Don't Panic, although its a third party grip it should work with your camera, the problem is usually caused by third party batteries Nikon batteries have a chip inside them and its this that creates havoc.
Try the Nikon battery in battery compartment 1 with the third party battery in compartment 2 and see how you get on, then try switching them round. There's a few You Tube guides/reviews/tutorials that show you the exact procedure, if its all too much hassle then box it up and send it back to Amazon for a refund.
I've used third party grips without any grief on Nikon kit. So these grips do work, you might have picked up a dodgy unit the battery issue does have a workaround.
Using non Nikon kit can be dodgy, I like to try different kit to get an idea of whether its any good, its not something I'd recommend newbies to do.

Compatible is not original. You'll have to try another battery.
