My old Nikon 28-105mm D Aspherical lens is taking dark photos?
How do i fix this because my dad is going to go mad if he finds out.
I don't think it is the lens because another lens does the same thing.
Thanks
Added (1). The camera is a finepix s2 pro
If you didn't drop it or something drastic just use the two button reset to return all the settings to default. If it is broken sneak it to the camera repair shop so dad won't find out.
Yeah, if two lenses do the same thing it is probably the camera body.
He would only go mad if you broke it. If it broke on its own, which does happen especially on these older cameras, then he won't go mad.
You need to make sure that you're not the cause. Put the camera in P (program or auto) mode and take some shots. You also need to make sure that the aperture ring on the lens is set properly otherwise that will cause bad exposures too.
Dark photos = underexposure.
Make sure that you are using the cameras lightmeter correctly.
When you take photos outside are the images still "dark"?
My guess is that you do not know how to use the camera in the manual mode.
For now, until you have the time to learn the fundamentals of photography, use the camera in the program, shutter priority or aperture priority mode.
I suspect user error.
You have probably set the mode to manual or dialled in an exposure compensation.
Go through the manual and set to P mode and set exposure compensation to zero.
Should'nt you be using a VR lens? If you've put a wrong lens into your mount it won't make contact with the camera system and you may have damaged the lens mount. So it looks like the doghouse for you if you've wrecked a lens your Dad can't use.
