My Nikon D5200 doesn't seem to be shooting at 5fps?
Its too slow… Right from the first shot! Is anything wrong with it? Need some help!
It may depend on what mode you are shooting in. If you're in one of the auto modes, it may be restricting your "drive mode" - the frame rate for stills, if you will. Have you tried putting it into one of the manual modes (P/S/A/M) and tried again?
Also, keep in mind that if you are using the pop up flash while shooting, your shoot rate will be severely limited. The camera will only fire once the flash's capacitors are charged, which takes quite a bit longer.
Just because it can, doesn't mean it will. You have to set it up properly, and use it in an environment that will allow to reach that potential. It won't shoot 5 fps in low light, or with flash, or usually in auto modes.
Set the camera to manual mode. Turn on the high speed shooting option. Set your shutter speed to 1/200th second. Aperture can be anything that makes you happy, this is a test. Focus on anything that suits your fancy, and push the shutter button. You should get about 5 frames in one second. About.
If you don't understand how to do any of this, the manual is an amazing piece of gear. Read it. It will explain when the 5 fps option will work, and reasons why you can't always use it.
If you're shooting raw, it won't do 5 fps.
Not sure what live view will do with shooting rate. If you are using live view, turn it off and see what happens.
