Nikkor AF-S 50MM F1.8G or Nikkor 40MM F2.8G DX Micro? - 1

Nikkor AF-S 50MM F1.8G or Nikkor 40MM F2.8G DX Micro?

I'd go with the 40mm f/2.8G, because macros (same as micro in lenses) allow you to do a lot of things + macro shots. Plus the majority of them are sharper than most other lenses.

50mm. It is far faster at 1.8, great optics, and 40mm micro pointless. Get the 60mm micro if going that way… For not much more.

It just depends on whether you need the macro capabilities of the 40mm or the 1.3 f-stop improvement in the 50mm.

For what? Do you like doing macro work? The 40mm micro will be suited for it. Do you like taking portraits, shoot in relatively low light or just have fun blurring the background? The 50mm f/1.8 will do that easily.
