Nikkor 105mm Macro Auto Focus Problem?

Matt
Matt

I recently purchased a Nikon 105mm Macro. When I switch off the Auto focus, Put it on manual, it still tries to find focus. I can still hear the motor going and the focus point won't stay still. When I focus in on my subject, hold the button down to keep my focus, and move to put the subject somewhere other than dead center, like I do with my other lenses, my 105mm will get lost trying to focus on the new area. Is this what the Nikon 105mm macro does, or is there something wrong with the lens I bought.

I don't have that lens, but it most certainly sounds like there's something wrong with it - manual focus should mean just that in all circumstances.

What camera do you use it on?

It may sound stupid.did you really switch the M/A - M switch, not the VR switch? Just making sure. It does sound like it's still in M/A mode, not M.

If it really is on "M", then that sounds like a defect.
